About

My name is Sidsel Linnet. I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist working in Wellington.

I moved to New Zealand from Denmark in 2017 with my partner who is originally from Wellington. Together we have three wonderful kids aged 2 to 10. I understand how we as parents love our children deeply, and want more than anything that they thrive and are happy. I also know how worrying it can be if that is not the case - no matter what their age.

I am very passionate about helping adolescents and their families. It can be a very emotionally intense and perplexing time for both the adolescent and the parents but it is also a very formative period of their life, which makes it possible to make an important difference for them and their mental well-being.

Making a difference in people’s lives is why I work as a Psychologist.

Experience

Since 2012 I have been working with children’s and adolescents' mental health as well as their learning needs in a Psychological and Educational Service in Copenhagen, and now in my private practice here in Wellington. In Copenhagen, I have also been part of establishing an adolescent counseling service and supervised psychologists during their training in Copenhagen.

Training

I have a Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Copenhagen in 2009. As part of my Master degree, I studied one semester at Victoria University of Wellington. I completed my training in Clinical Psychology and I was granted authorisation by The Danish Supervisory Board of Psychological Practice in 2012.  Since then I have continuously developed my competences in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology. I have received training in Mentalisation-based Therapy (MBT) by teachers from Anna Freud Institute in London.

I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist by the New Zealand Psychologist Board and bound by its Code of Ethics.
